Xero Tip – Setting Up Authenticator on a New Phone – – Growthwise

 
I’ve recently changed phones, so google authenticator stopped working. The Xero Verify app is simple to use. You will need to setup a backup email address, or alternatively you can set up a backup security question. Helped completely. I followed those instructions in the link you provided and it got me nowhere. Once you have entered your details click on “Login”.

You can request that data be deleted. Yeah let’s just complicate things more because technology is supposed to make life easier. I mean, I sure hope nobody steals my highly classified estimates and invoices. The customer support instructions say to push the “get in touch” button which doesn’t actually exist I am stuck in a loop and can’t contact them.

This authenticator should probably be an optional feature. Heck, some people might pay extra for that. I want to cancel my subscription at this point.

I have TFA enabled on half a dozen other sites and apps i use, and none of these require a secondary app to get the job done, or a backup email address. Still, it did perform as intended and get me set up on the first try. Three stars for actually working, two off for having to do it with yet another app.

The new MFA has locked me out — just like that whether I wanted it or not. Extremely bad form — whoever sprung this on just like that should be shot for bad management and bad customer relations. Hope that helps. I would bet that if the permissions granted to the app upon install were examined the true reasons for it being forced upon everyone would become clear. Hi, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us. We strongly believe that authenticator apps, such as Google Authenticator and Xero Verify, do provide increased security. Cyber attackers and hackers are getting more and more sophisticated and so modern security features like MFA offer an important layer of protection by requiring at least two different factors, something you know your password and something you have mobile device before allowing access to your account.

This second layer of security is designed to prevent anyone but you from accessing your account even if an attackers knows your password. You may not pay employees or bills using Xero but there will still be some very valuable information stored about you in Xero that could cause some trouble should it ever fall into the wrong hands.

MFA is great but it is frustrating that a whole new app needs to be downloaded for this type of thing. It might not seem like it but it is definately a barrier for some users I work with. Building this into the existing app or using existing contact info would have made this easier and more seamless. Even better would be working with apple authentication options for seamless biometric verification.

Thank you so much for your help! This verify issue is not the greatest for someone that is on Xero 20 to 30 times a day. It is a pain. Do we get an option to ask this verify to sleep for a week or a month and continue on with our password to get in? Xero was supposed to be very convenient and easy. Yes, me too And me! What I did was: Login into XERO using back up email Go to Account in the top right hand corner Change authentication method from 6 digit pin to questions Change back to 6 digit pin Then QR code appeared Once QR code was scanned on the new phone 6 digit pin appeared Entered 6 digit pin from google authenticator into XERO Xero then synced to my new phone Instructions in the help are incorrect and a process needs to be updated for change of phone.
