Verified Purchase. Very Disappointed. I bought this book because I wanted to learn some useful basics. This book is very well written and easy to read, but it is too basic and somewhat superficial.

Despite its obvious business orientation, it treats MS Publisher somewhat as a toy. For example, I had a text file that I wanted to import into publisher so that I could format it into a booklet.

This seems like a pretty common objective. Without getting into detail, the index had one entry for “booklet” and no entries for “import text” No luck with “catalog” or “report. To a large extent, I found that most of the topics that the book covered were intuitive, but that it did not cover the hard-to-find non-intuitive stuff that I had been struggling with. It is extremely difficult to find a manual for a current version of Publisher This manual was published by Cue, a reputable company that has been in business many years.

The manual covers a lot of basics one needs to learn this software. The wording is also easy to understand. Read a few parts of the book – very useful – shows the advanced features of the program so you can do page jumps, page masters, and the important stuff that you may not know how to use. Although a good overview, this book is not practical for step-by-step learning. There are no digital files in which to practice and no assignments for the learner to complete for enhanced, hands-on learning.

Very clear reading. My wife is still busy with the highlighter! Lots of great content in this book. Excellent book for anyone who isn’t familiar with publisher.

If you happen to get Office with publisher and normally use Word, you’ll soon see how much better Publisher is for writing. Would recommend to others! I like. One person found this helpful. I think it will help. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Years ago, I always bought Que manuals because they were so thorough and comprehensive. Seems they’ve had a dumbing-down operation: I should have known when I saw the word “My” in the title. I’m way too old for My Little Pony! Pleasantly written, well presented but goodness – it’s so basic!

Far less use than MS’s own ‘help’ documents. And instead of a tome, it’s an over-priced little runt of a book. About sheets of paper and not much bigger than a paperback, so there’s just not room for much. Index is effective – but there’s nothing of substance when you get there! Report abuse. Excellent, very clearly written and very nicely presented.

Strikes the right balance as the author guides you through the various steps without being condescending in treating you as technical numbskull or, at the other end of the scale, assuming you’re a genius.

Much better structured, less intimidating and gets to the point without all the attempted humour of one other well-known series of software help books. Everyone who’s seen my copy agrees. Does what it says on the cover. Not as helpful as I had hoped. Some of us over 65’s need led by the hand so a big expansive index is often more use than the entry.

I am one of those. Very good, but needs a n easier way of finding the answer. Excellent book for Publisher, a very decent programme for those that dont want to pay for adobe In-Design.
