Instead of trying to teach users keyboard shortcuts and how to find hidden menu options, we would like to just put an easy shortcut link on their desktop to search for wireless displays.

We would like clicking on the desktop shortcut to do the same thing as clicking on the link below:. That option will only work for devices that support Intel WiDi or miracast so putting a shortcut on all desktops may not be fruitful.

Showing or documenting how to press the windows key and P is hardly something a user couldn’t learn though. People cannot remember to Windows P especially if they don’t use the wireless displays regularly.

We really do need the users to be able to simply click on a desktop icon that launches it automatically. There can’t be that many places where they can use these wireless displays, and like you said it wont be often. We do it for a TV that is controlled by iPad and people manage just fine. The fact that they will not be using them often is the reason why it needs to be ultra simple and easy to find.

There usually is some command that can be made into a shortcut, but I just don’t know what it is for this link. For instance, you can make a shortcut to launch Windows Updates by adding this command to the shortcut object:.

A shortcut directly to this would actually be better since it will remove the need to click on an additional link. So, I guess launching the display shortcut is going to have to suffice. I also had this question, and it took a long while to find the answer. In Windows 10 it’s integrated into the explorer shell. You can reach it with the following command argument. Is there a way to connect directly to the display? Now you have to start the shortcut, select the screen in the list for me only the MS Wireless Display adapter and click Enter.

It would be great if starting up the pc would automatically connect to the wall display, or perhaps with a single key.
